📌 Pinned
This is a live demo of Fedigest, a self-hosted front page for the threadiverse. Look around: open a post, read its comments, try a theme. This post is pinned, so it stays at the top.
Fedigest lets a small team of curators pick posts from Lemmy, PieFed and Mbin, say why each one is worth reading, and publish them as one newest-first front page.
What you're looking at
- Picked posts link to the original thread. Comments load live from the community where the post was made.
- Interact from your instance takes you to the same post on your own Lemmy or PieFed instance, where you can vote and reply.
- Auto posts come in automatically from communities this site watches.
- Categories in the menu each have their own page and RSS feed. Some, like site news, stay off the front page.
- Themes: pick one at the bottom of the page. Light/dark pairs follow your device.
Pinned posts
Admins can pin posts like this one. A pinned post sits at the top of the front page and of every category page until it's unpinned.
Run your own
Fedigest is free software under the AGPL-3.0. It runs as one Docker container with its database inside. See fedigest.org or get the code on GitHub.

Posts in this category don't appear on the front page or in the main RSS feed. You only find them here, in this category's own feed, in search and on author pages.
Every category has a Show on frontpage setting. Turn it off and the category becomes a quiet corner of the site: its posts stay out of the front page and the main RSS feed, but they're still here.
Its posts can still be found:
- on this category's own page, which stays in the menu
- in this category's RSS feed
- in search results
- on the author's page
It's useful for site news, niche topics, or anything you want to publish without filling up the front page. A post can also be in several categories: if any of them is shown on the front page, the post is too.
